Rescue on its, way, can I be towed if so what do I need to do, they're bound to send me a tow truck rather than a flat bed truck |

If the park lock won’t hold the car and you hear a grinding/ratcheting noise when you select park, then this means that the transmission output shaft is turning even though the vehicle is stationary. Therefore, the driveline is disconnected somewhere downstream of the transmission.

thanks Phil , no codes on iid tool for gearbox but I think the issue has to do with my suspension strut change yesterday , I thought perhaps the gearbox linkage may have been the culprit but on getting under the car to have a looksee , noticed lots of grease on front drivers wheel and suspension geometry

I thought the gearbox selector cable was the issue as after lubing it I could move up and down the drive, unfortunately only got 800m to the garage and have the same issue again |

If it is a disengaged driveshaft causing the problem then, if you get someone to look (safely) underneath, you should be able to see the propshaft/driveshaft turning when the vehicle is stationary in Drive or Reverse.

Fixed, it was only the drive shaft issue, crisis averted its turned from one of the worst cars in the world to one of the best once again |

I came to comment drive shaft - I had exactly the same a couple of years ago it hadn't been pushed all the way in so it fell out. Current stable:
