2011 4.4 TDV8 - Brake Pad Recommendations

I've done a search and it seems that OEM discs are reasonably priced and worth purchasing but I can't find any consensus on which brake pads to use with them. The OEM pads seem to be horribly overpriced so wondered what people would recommend? Thanks.

not sure about rotors but I highly recommend EBC pads. I went for EBC Green

Technicaly all disks should be the same as they used the same grey iron. Also all pads for road use from major manufacturers should be the same in terms of stopping power as they have to have the same friction coefficient. Differences may be present in dust, wear rate, fade resistance etc. I’m not that impressed by the brake ‘feel’ of mine and was considering replacing disks and pads but doing some reading it seems to be normal so as the pads are OE I’ll have to get used to it. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

I had "genuine" LR disks and pads fitted at great expense and they are the squeakiest, nosiest, worst I have ever had in 14 yrs!!

AVOID!!

go for EBC Green I would suggest.

I phoned site sponsor Advanced Factors and Paul Redding threw a kit in the post. Non genuine but happy and no squeaks or anything and stop just fine!

Just fitted Brembo discs and pads.
Not sure of their longevity yet. Hoping they’re ok as they’re a decent brand. Christian.

OE pads for the 4.4 are Jurid, I know because I bought a boxed set from LR and they were stamped, I also had a set of Jurid pads later and they were the same…. if you can find them the work well if properly fitted….(AUTODOC has them at the moment)

Personally I always fit LR discs, I’ve tried others and they’ve been variable, sometimes ok but I have had a set of aftermarket ones warp, but the gen ones are always a good bet. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

EBC yellow pads for me, too many hills and twisty roads round about me for the stock pads not to fade. 2006 MY FFRR 4.2 S/C autobiography (Auckland Blue - 901)

I had genuine (not e-bay) Brembo's fitted front and rear and I have to say I am disappointed in them. I was going to go EBC but it was in for service and they rang saying needed changing so might as well do whilst it was up on ramps etc so ended up with Brembo.

They feel really "harsh" on prolonged braking e.g. coming of a motorway slip and squeeked like mad. Since fitting I have stripped the front down myself and cleaned and refitted with ceramic grease on the back of the pads which has stopped the squeeking but the feel still isn't as good as I would like.

Just my experience Smile

Really happy with the ferodo I fitted on mine, don't forget that most are only as good as the fitting procedure - cleaned, fitted, greased (with the correct substances of course), and then the correct bedding in and heat cycle procedure. If they're not bedded properly and heat cycled effectively at the start even the best pads can feel awful during their life time 2011 Vogue SE Tdv8 FFRR

Also don't forget a brake fluid flush and flexi hose replacement as both these items are essential to the feel of the brakes - i.e any dirt/water in the fluid or softness in the flexible hoses means mechanical force being lost and not getting to the pistons. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Going from my 3.6TDV8 with Brembos to my 4.4 with LR brakes, I miss the Brembos as the LRs do start to fade if they’re being “used”. Half tempted to get them fitted as the car is a keeper. Who’s the cheapest supplier? 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster

The 4.4 TDV8 has Brembo calipers, just bigger ones (and discs) than the 3.6 had (pre-facelift) - 6 piston/380mm vs 4 piston/360mm.
