Good News and Bad News

Thumbs Up Good news MOT today and passed with only minor oil leak as advisory.

On way home battery light came on voltage up to 17 volts along with Christmas tree lights on dash. Big Cry

It’s the third time I’ve done the alternator in 2 years….last couple of times it was a Eurocarparts RTX one which they replaced FOC, first one was an eBay exchange from semi reputable alt and starter motor place.

It’s gotta be cheap parts as I can’t think how the car could make it fail so quickly. The belt was new 18 months ago and not over tightened.

So, bite the bullet and buy an expensive alternator. Or rebuild the one I have. It’s the ‘Bosch’ water cooled alternator originally.

Rtx one mate says it all. Might as well just get one out the scrap yard.

For the battery to be receiving 17 volts that's the alternator that's faulty.

Try looking at some local refurbishment places. I found one local too me. £150 2 year guarantee
