I've replaced the oil a few times now and always used a Mahle oil filter. My question is that it comes with 3 O rings. The large one for the screw on holder but what are the 2 smaller ones for? I can't see anywhere they can fit and no sign of any old O rings anywhere. 2011 Vogue SE TDV8

Not needed…. Presumably the same filter is sold for a different engine/ car that needs them.

I’ve just serviced mine for the first time and thought the same. Rightly or wrongly whoever serviced it previously had used the thicker of the two washers on the base of the canister above the water drain disk, so I followed suit.

My mistake I misread the thread title. I was talking about the fuel filter.

The extra o rings are for a Merc , uses same filter in different housing so not used on RR, just the big one .
