Adaptive cruise driver intervention

Strange thing happened today, just turned onto a B road and was leisurely using adaptive cruise 40mph when I came towards a farmers road sign caution "mud on the road" they were red triangle's either side of the road.
Sure enough taty picking season, and the road was well coated in dried mud.
Immediately car braked suddenly and driver intervention alarm!!!!

So is it so clever to recognise the signs and apply brakes or was it change of road surface?

After the event and clear of mud, adaptive cruise was working good! 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue

Somewhere along the line camera pictures were added to the radar unit's input to better detect objects, although I wasn't aware that warning signs were included but quite possibly were.

Its exactly that sort of action taken by the car in the name of driver aid that I find so dangerous. If you had been followed down that road by someone else you may well have been rear ended for braking hard on an otherwise clear road. Its happened to me on motorways when I'm close to an HGV and the car looses confidence on which lane each vehicle is in. Fortunately I can switch it off now in the L405 - wasn't the case in the L322. Mike - MPx
