Got me eye on a 2.0 Bi turbo 4motion Transporter, question is, would it be ok for lugging the twin axle, leaky Lunar van around?
Anyone had experience of Transporters as a tow vehicle?
The Rangie is still going to be the number one tow vehicle, but I fancy the Transporter as a general workhorse.

I have a T32 bi turbo 2.0 auto and would have absolutely no hesitation in pulling a very large caravan around with it. It is a very lively and powerful vehicle.

Have used all three of the transporters I have owned for towing.

T5.1 lwb dsg 140 bhp panel van, used upto maximum towing weight, did it just fine. A little underpowered for that purpose.

T5.1 lwb tipper 4motion 140bhp manual. Laden with load and towing around, 1.8 ton. Always did well and a little loud/noisy when worked. Not a Range Rover level of comfort, or serenity.

T6 lwb lwb kombi 4motion dsg 204bhp, great tow vehicle, best vehicle of the three so far. Very capable, but not as nice as a Range Rover, or my Discovery 4.

They are very good vans, I would not be without mine. Make sure you find one with led lights, vastly superior to the standard halogen. They also hold the value very well.
Oh and the dealers are just as wonderful as Land Rover!

Like most things, I wish I had taken the plunge a year or so ago as prices seem to have gone a little crazy. I even considered new, but even then the waiting list is huge!

I know its an old post but I have only just seen it. I have an old (2007) 2.5 4 motion transporter and love it, great allrounder amazing in the snow and perfect for family outings (mines a Kombi) but among the forums the general consensus is to avoid the 180bhp BI turbo like the plague. They suffer with egr cooler problems and the only fix if left is a new engine. the 140bhp single turbo can be mapped up to similar figures but without the reliability issues
