Is there a special procedure to follow when disconnecting the battery on the L322, MY10

On the defender, you had to turn the key in the ign to disable the immobiliser, then remove it and had 30 seconds to take the neg cable off before the alarm would sound.

Sure the tech in the L322 is far, far more advanced, but wanted to check before I off the neighbours

Just take off the negative without the ignition on. Done mine a load of times, no issues.

Just make sure car is unlocked. Christian.

Procedure is in the Workshop Manual which is in the WIKI... don't think it will set the alarm off but there is an explosive disconnect in there somewhere so you may lose a few fingers...  Pete

I was just answering the question if there was a procedure to disconnect the battery....

Yes there is.....

The procedure is there for a reason... there are many shortcuts in the upkeep of a Range Rover but it's always best to have the correct information so you can make your own mind up if you wish to take short cuts....

It has been known for ECU's to develop faults when they have not been able to power down correctly...

On a fatty with no known problems then I expect just undoing the negative lead would be fine but when others are asking, and we have no idea of the health of their vehicle, IMHO I think it is best if they receive the "official" way to do it...  Pete

The procedure is shown on the label on the slam panel:

Key off (well, ign off via the button on MY10 on cars), wait 120s for everything to do its shutdown process, then battery neg off.

There's no explosive disconnect devices on MY10 onwards cars.
