How many paving slabs in the back of an L322?

Looking to collect some reclaimed 900mm x 600mm x 20mm sandstone paving slabs from a reclamation yard. Question is, how much weight can I safely carry in the luggage area? Planning to spread the load with some timber planks cut to size. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance for any advice. 2011MY 4.4TDV8 Autobiography Baltic Blue

I loaded about 350kg of dive gear in mine and it was down on the stops.
everyone was saying I should have bought an audi until I started the motor and shut the door
300 miles of taking it easy coz of physics

I have no idea of what the recommended max load is

edit 1136lb which is 515 kg so with two fat blokes thats about there

fold the rear seats, and stack them high, over the rear axle, try not to have any at the very rear, as the leverage will affect far more than the ones over the axle. p.s. ive had a complete jag xj6 engine, (iron block) with gearbox attached, and the dismantled engine crane, all in, and drove it from Newcastle to London, completely fine., again, engine, as far in as possible, and the gearbox tip against the boor door.

At least as much as 3 large passengers and all their luggage.

I've had 0.5 tonne in compost bags in the back of my L405, seats down. I would have been comfortable to take more.

With my hi vis jacket on. Don’t forget to secure them properly, I’d suggest an improvised barge board across the back of the front seats in case you have to brake suddenly and as the other poster said as far forward as you can safely get them in …..and out again!

Thanks for the helpful replies, but I've chickened out and decided to pay £20 for delivery. Anyway, useful hints and tips for future reference. 2011MY 4.4TDV8 Autobiography Baltic Blue

For £20, I think you've made a wise decision. It would be easy to do that much damage loading & unloading paving slabs.

I too have had some serious weight in mine - both L322's & L405. With the L405 the seats don't go flat, so you are forced to have more of a rear weight overhang.
