What a fab little machine, haven’t seen one in years! These were the ones built in Steyr from recollection

United Kingdom 2009 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Stornoway Grey

There was one for sale at Brightwells Auctions last week, could have been yours for £3920, 85K miles on the clock, Lord knows when the next one will appear, most will have been trashed by now. They were terribly plasticky though, closing the door was also a bit of a worry, felt like it was coming apart.

One of my first cars was a DAF66 variomatic, it had a rubber band as a drive shaft lol push the lever forward and off you went.
Pull back and you were reversing. It looked very similar.

They were brilliant. Actually very capable off-road as well. A certain government agency had lots of them as it was easy to get through rather narrow paths and up cliffs. Also very light, when we were younger my friends and I used to think it was funny to pick them up and place them somewhere you couldn’t drive from 🤪 It started out as one of us had one, well his mum, and cars parked too close for him to get out. So we lifted it in the road 🤣 job done and we could go home after clubbing in Amsterdam.

You still see them being driven by gnarled locals in Alpine villages. Pretty indestructible except for the rust….

If you are in Naples, and fancy the day trip to Mt. Vesuvius, you will get a coach to the top car park, and have to walk up the last few hundred metres, to see inside one of the worlds deadliest active volcanoes…. All be it very dead looking…. But look around snd you will see a couple of Fiat Panda 4x4 cars up there, to take down first aid casualties to the car park. Ambulance type liveries… also, there is a YouTube, of a panda vs. Range Rover climb challenge of some huge hill. Panda wins!
