Audio volume 4.2 SC

Hi, after about an hour of driving the volume will suddenly increase to full and regardless of turning it down it will increase again and the only option is to turn it off. The Auto Volume control is switched off. The next morning it's back to normal.
I have disconnected the battery and shorted the leads etc and makes no difference. Merry Christmas. Range Rover 4.2 SC
2 Range Rover Classics - one from new but both rusty now.
Rover 3.5 Coupe had since new.
Subaru Legacy 3.0.
BMW K1200RS.

i have had this a couple of times over the years it has never done it for long range rover gremlins Rolling with laughter
