2003 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 V8 Java Black
Introduction and a problem.....

Firstly just to say hello!
Great forum guys.
Got me a 2003 L322 Autobiography in Cherry Black, side tubes, black and white leather, 4.4 and plenty and over the moon with it until.......... Big Cry

Sorry if this is in the wrong section and I've trampled all over the site's etiquette manual but:

The instrument binnicle seems to have had a nervous breakdown and doesn't want to work anymore.
It started intermittently with the rev counter stopping and then the speedometer, the fuel gauge showing half a tank when I had just filled the thing up. This has now led to the Sat Nav/TV screen not working as well. The air suspension seems to have a life of its own and the odd buttom light will stay on after taking out the key. I have had the battery drain a couple of times as well. Anybody got any ideas?

i have already taken it to a main dealers who plugged the car into their diagnostics machines and £110 later they came back with "I don't know what is wrong but we can look at it for a full day @ £85 / hour". I think I'm in the wrong job.

Thanks to anyone who can help me in advance and looking forward to posting any experiences I have with my RR.

Regards,

Paddy

Is this an Autobiography car? Cherry Black, never heard of that befpre, and your leather sounds different too. Got any pics?

I've not heard of so many faults at once but if it were me I'd be looking into the wiring loom, could be short in it somewhere that causing all the dials and gauges to work intermittently.

Becuase your car is out of warranty it could prove expensive to find out the cause.

We don't have lots of members here but you might want to do a search on www.rr.net and see if anyone has had a similar issue with a vehicle of your age. Discovery 4 HSE

That's beautiful, definitely an Autobiography by the looks of it, stunning Burr Walnut wood. Have you got an Autobiograpgy badge on the back? If not you should get one. That's a really nice car, shame about the niggles, keep us posted ok? Discovery 4 HSE

Will do!! We are getting somewhere I believe. The guy at the garage tell sme he thinks it is just the binnicle itself as this also doubles up as a router for all the information they goes to it from the 4 ECU's the car has. If the binnicle is on the blink then this can cause problems else where not directly connected to the likes of me. (i.e. sat nav / tv etc) So fingers crossed!!!
Also yes it has the badge and tread plates with autobiography on them. Can't wait to get it back.

Very nice looking car, Paddy.... the independents are often a bit better and certainly less costly at sorting out these sorts of problems, so the car is probably in the best place. Welcome to the forum and let us know how it all transpires Thumbs Up Halfway Down The Stairs,
