if I then select park or drive the camera picture comes up !!

Maybe check the wires through the boot hinge, maybe when the reverse lights are on it could be causing issues with the signal?

Something tells the camera that the car is in reverse gear and its time for the camera to operate. Your camera is operational, just not ar the right time. I wonder what that 'something' is. Could be in the gear selector, or it could be something else, eg connected to the reversing lights, or something else. The mirrors also move when reverse is selected. I dunno. Might be worth checking that the reversing lights come on, and off when they're supposed to as that might give a clue. Can you Crank the engine withbthe car in anything other than p or n? If so that would suggest to me that there's an adjustment issue in the gear selector. This is all however generic knowledge gleened from simple auto trans issues, not computerised ffrr stuff, so I could be spouting nonsense! Embarassed

Andy,
On mine the camera comes on when reverse is selected. It then stays on for a short time after selecting drive (or neutral). After that short time it goes back to whatever was on before, audio or nav most of the time.
Are you saying it's black when reverse is selected but then comes on (for a short time) when you then select drive. In that case as suggested above you are looking for something that is interfering with the signal. Reversing lights as suggested is a good starting point. Maybe reversing sensors, although I think they may stay live for a short period after selecting drive. Have you changed anything linked to reverse? Do all your parking sensors work properly?
Sorry, not much help but it's were I would start. Could also try disconnecting the battery for a reset and see if that solves it.
Neil

Sorry for the lack of replying here its been a long week.

The fault has gone !!!
What used to happen was if i selected reverse I got a blank screen but then if I selected park or drive the camera would pop up for a while.
The last time it did this I pressed the return key (bottom right of the screen) and the camera disappeared as you would expect.
When I next selected reverse it worked perfectly !!!!!

Got to love a car that fixes itself (well for now at least)
