France 2003 Range Rover Vogue Td6 Adriatic Blue
Gearbox Failure

Well things are not going well. Sad Just bought a 2003 Vogue 100 000km on the clock, Td6, 40km from the garage tried to pull away from the lights it would hardly move, eventually pulled into a parking place. No reverse or drive now. They've picked it up and will let me know tomorrow what they find. During it's test drive all was well, tried every selection possible for the gears, hi/lo HDC etc, no issues.

There was no grinding, it engaged in all gears, indicator on the dash said what gear it was in. Putting it in low made no difference. The only thing was a brief warning that said something about a drive safe mode, but didn't get to read it all as it went off so quick. Still maintained speed at 110km/h.

Any ideas what it might be so I can have an idea when they start discussing it tomorrow.

Happened to me last year - expect the worse. Your probably looking at a new/reconditioned gearbox Sad plus gearbox cooler and all new liquids = approx £2500 if done at a garage. Gavin

check to see if the Front Diff recall has been undertaken - any LR main agent should be able to tell you from their system. Your symptoms are typical of this failure - so is a duff gearbox though Confused

Went back to the garage, turns out the gearbox was totally dead. They rebuilt it then asked me for an extra €2500, to which I replied I'll have my money back. But on the good side finally found another one, 2003 Vogue with only 18k on the clock, full dealer warranty for 12 months. Smile

I'll post some photos next week once I've got it home, like you say an unbelievable find. Looking forward to it.
