So I've had the car back to the garage abd had the compressor changed due to a fault. This was changed and as far as I'm aware, nothing else was changed (eg reset using diagnostics) is this right?

Anyway, after having this done abd it could be a coincidence, I know have suspension fault. The compressor is over heating, won't let me go over 30mph when a warning comes on. I can hear air hissing out from the drivers side front wheel. Question is has the garage caused the issue and two, can the air suspension be replaced /fixed or does it need an entire strut? What are my options? Thanks!

Just had mine done last week, apparently it’s quite a common problem, cost me 1400€!

Sounds like a Mcpherson strut.
A decent mechanic will find it with soapy water and tell you what to replace.

It's age rather than mileage, and usually hits the passenger side front first as that takes the most wear/bumps being on the side of the road. They generally go when the temperature drops , 2 years ago last Sep a load off FFRR members reported the same in one weekend!

It's not a big deal and a reasonably easy job for a LR mechanic. £322 Bearmach.

Cheers but is this part for the 2011 with the adaptive dynamic suspension? From what I've read and spoken to an indy, this model is the more expensive part. I just don't want to get the wrong one.

Hi Stuart. Do a search for just the air bag. They are about £300ish.
From what I've read, don't buy cheap ones.

The air system is the springs, the adaptive bit is the shockers/dampers. So the air spring can be changed separately, but like normal best practice it tends to get replaced in pairs, but that’s obviously up to you.

Hi Stuart. I’ve done quite a few of these, you’ll probably find you had the leak first which caused the compressor to overwork then give up.
You can just change the bag or the whole strut, always better to do both if changing the strut as the dampers do lose some performance with age.

Seems to be about the right age for this to happen if they are the original struts, judging from my own experience and other feedback on here. My 2011 5.0 S/C developed a slow leak in the front right strut just before COVID, a couple of days after I'd been using it in offroad/extended height, which clearly caused the bag to flex in a place where the rubber was longer very flexible!

Personally I changed the complete pair of front struts given they were nearly 10 years old and had done something like 75k miles, that was a pretty easy job on the driveway at home if you have some reasonable jacks and sockets/bars. You can just replace the bags and save a bit of money, need to ensure the new bags are properly fitted to seal correctly though otherwise you'll have different leaks...

Had the same. Changed just the air bag with a kit from Advanced Factors. Strut was not replaced. Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

Update. Bag changed and no leak. A small issue though ;
Adaptive dynamic suspension fault in the dash. I've checked the wires, they look OK. One was looking worse for wear from before this so I've tidied it up.
Anything I should be looking for?

On the plus side, replacing the bag wasn't hard.
