Anyone had an AGC branded windscreen fitted?

Just wondered as I'm in the middle of a huge argument with my insurers today about my policy and Autoglass tried to fit an AGC windscreen to my FFRR this morning.

I know from an online search that AGC are the world's largest glass company and, although they provide OEM glass to a huge range of car manufacturers, JLR are not one of them.

Any thoughts?

if it matches the JLR glass spec wise it should not be an issue.
the posts i have read are people receiving glass that is missing some features so it is not like for like. 2012 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 - Current

That's one of my issues - it may have the acoustic symbol and heated symbol, but how can I tell if it has the same tint, cutouts for the camera's etc. Seems logical to me that a pilkington replacement guarantees same spec, hence that's what I asked them for. 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography

Had mine replaced yesterday by Autowindscreens, they fitted Pilkington, very happy with it and the service so far.
Hope you get sorted.

Good to know Dave Thumbs Up

Did you have to argue with your insurers to get a Pilkington screen?

Mine (Churchill) are saying the policy excludes OEM replacement but that's not what my policy document says, hence I'm in an argument with them! 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography

No they just fitted Pilkington, I was a afraid of the same outcome as yourself TBH as not the first time I’ve heard of this behaviour form insurers but when I arrived I asked and they confirmed pilkington glass to be used.
I’m with the AA for insurance.

Sharp practice from some insurers in my view.

My dilemma is compounded by the fact my MOT runs out in less than a week, so I may not have time to wait for AG to get a Pilkington screen in (even if insurers pay) and might have to go with the AGC screen anyway.

I guess the best you can do is make sure its like for like with the features on the old screen, no reason why it shouldn’t be but you would have a case if not.

I'm due a callback from the insurers today and will make a decision then.

I had a screen replaced last year by Autoglass.
They initially tried to fit a non OEM screen but some of the electrical fittings did not have long enough leads so they had to fit a Genuine LR/Pilkington screen. Only took a couple of days to get the genuine screen.
They did a very good job and everything worked as it should afterwards.

That's interesting Charmer Shocked

With MOT expiring next week and my insurers absolutely having dug their heels in, I've reluctantly accepted the fitting of an AGC windscreen, booked in for this Friday.

I'll see what happens on the day! Whistle 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography
