I have a 2017 RR Vogue SE and when I select reverse the driver's side mirror doesn't dip as far as the passenger mirror. How do I fix this? I want the driver's mirror to dip as far as the passenger's.

From the owners manual

Mirror dip can be enabled or disabled via the Vehicle Settings menu in the instrument panel. See INSTRUMENT PANEL MENU.

Selecting Reverse (R) gear causes both door mirrors to automatically adjust, providing an improved viewing angle for reversing.

The dipped position of the mirrors is a preset position. In R, the mirrors can be adjusted, but the new position cannot be saved.

When the gear selector is moved out of R, the door mirrors return to the previous position. 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue

Yeah, I know all that - thanks. The issue is that it doesn't dip far enough, it only dips about a third of distance as the passenger side. I've searched online but can't find a solution anywhere.

As far as I can remember select R then adjust the mirrors then press M and your number on the seat controls and that should save the selected position of the seat, steering wheel and mirrors .

Just tried it on mine and it works.
Still holding off senility!

My car a, 2015 model, is the youngest LR I’ve owned but this method has worked on all the other cars. Whether something has changed after 2015 I don’t know but it certainly works on mine.
Grasping at straws, but did you do it with the engine running? I can’t see the point of having dipping mirrors that can’t be set to a personal setting.

Just been out and about and tried it again (with the engine running) but still no joy. All the other memory settings such as seat, steering wheels and mirrors in normal setting are fine but it's only in reverse that the driver's mirror only dips a third of the way (but you can manually dip it further so it's not as if something is stuck). The passenger mirror fully dips.

From KOT’s post, and my experience, it looks like something has changed, and not for the better, between 2015 and 2018.

It's all a bit odd, I think something's probably faulty somewhere or it needs programming or blah. Gizmos in cars, great when they work, a pain to get fixed when they don't.

Mind you, one thing that always perplexed was why the rear view mirror was never motorised and why the seats were heated, ventilated and massaging but the headrest wasn't at least heated. When you have a baldy bonce, you notice these things.

Make sure that the mirror is fully clipped into the plastic 'receiver' on the X/Y motor setup in the mirror housing first - it could be that the mirror has become dislodged and *thinks* it is going as far as it can down, and the normal position is correspondingly offset, too. 2017 - L405 SC - WOW! just WOW!

Seems well seated, gave it a decent shove and no give so assuming it's in the right place. Don't fancy disconnecting the battery, done that once before on a different car - nightmare when it was reconnected.

It would seem that the MY 2017 cars, and beyond, don’t have the save feature to set the mirror position when reversing as Kot said in his post it’s not a feature of your car. I just checked the online owners manual.
Seems odd as everybody will want a lightly different position but LR knows best!
