EU Sim Card

Given the *great* new rules and absolutely *no* broken promises from UK providers about re-introducing roaming charges in the EU, has anyone purchased a pay-as-you-go or other SIM card from an EU country for doing travels?

Currently looking at Movistar pre-paid that comes with a ton of data but happy to look at others that you may recommend Smile 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE - 'Black Betty'

I did - so at the moment I'll be fine however once my current contract expires, even if I renew with the same one, it's considered a 'new' contract by Vodafone and then roaming charges come in to effect. 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE - 'Black Betty'

O2 are not charging any roaming charges at all, even on new contracts. I tried to get a French sim a few years ago and found download speeds to be very poor. You’ll have problems streaming or even FaceTime type app’s as their infrastructure is still out of the arc. Plumbed systems seem ok if you can use them.

I think the o2 advert I heard though was that it’s no charge up to 25gb? Still better than the other networks though.

Correct. Which I wasn’t aware of.
As your monthly UK data allowance is over 25GB, you can still use your data in our Europe Zone – but it’s now subject to a Roaming Limit of 25GB. Once you’ve reached this limit you’ll be charged an additional cost of £3.50/GB.

BT still sticking to no roaming charges. Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

Don’t renew your contract. stay on a rolling basis on your old one…… unless you are on a contract with a phone and you want to upgrade the handset then your existing contract may be the best bet. Just because it has expired doesn’t mean that you need to renew.

I’m on an old sim only EE max package and have been for many years now. They keep trying to get me to swap with offers etc but none of their new packages are as good as the one I’m on. I’ve just been to France and my data was fine with no fair usage policy etc.

Buy the new phone outright from Apple or Samsung etc, and go sim only. Far more flexible. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
