Does anyone know if the TPMS on a 2007 car throws a wobbler if the spare wheel is removed from the car?

As part of my ongoing restoration of my L322 I want to reinstate the TPMS system on it. I know many will call me stupid but it's saved my bacon before when towing and alerted me to a gradual drop in pressure so I'd like it back.

My car has an LPG tank in place of the spare wheel so I don't want to buy 4 new sensors and find out they don't work.

If the TPMS module expects the spare tire to be fitted with a tire pressure sensor and it does not, the module will not show a fault to the driver, however a fault code will be stored in the TPMS module.
