Am I mad, or do I have a Reverse fault..?

Hi FF people..
I'm big enough and old enough to accept any 'numpty' or (like a Doctor's advice) 'Don't do it then' comments from this Fine Forum, but a strange thing happened to me yesterday..
Swung into my close, braked, stuck the FF into reverse to back onto my drive... I should point out here I have a tiny 'lip' to the front of the paving.. not a 4inch slab, more like a paving slab's thickness...
Car reverses normally, without throttle - I start to brake as it isn't a long drive, car stops with front wheels touching front paving lip.
I thought 'odd, with all the 4x4 drive immense torque of the V8, it can't get up this lip'..applied small amount of throttle, revs rise, car won't get past the lip.

I thought 'my gearbox is busted'....Pulled forward about 3 feet, put in reverse, no brake, car gets over it all easily..

Is it me, or does anyone think I have a fault..? (plus it appears the gearbox oil hasn't been changed yet, at 45k miles)

Be gentle, people. MY17 VSE FF Corris

Ok, MPx, that would go along along with my 'Am I mad' theory, but it was in reverse and reversing, until I applied a little brake when the front wheels snagged...
I forgot to mention, no, I didn't have the leccy Parking brake on, either.. MY17 VSE FF Corris

This has happened to me when off road, e.g. parked with a ridge, stone etc behind the car. I found it odd and surprising, and it is not something my earlier RRs did. I have got out of the car to see if there was an unseen larger obstruction, and there wasn't. Driving forwards a bit and then reversing had the car clearing it no problem. I took it to be a quirk of the traction control, perhaps linked to the drive characteristics of the 5.0SC, but it seems to have happened to you with the SDV8.

I haven't let it worry me, and just work round it if the issue arises. I don't think it is indicative of a gearbox fault. Only Range Rovers since 1988

Thanks CS, it sounds like the exact same thing, even with your mahooosive v8.. it's reassuring to know that these anomalies are out there, and not necessarily worrying, just a 'quirk'. MY17 VSE FF Corris

Yeah same happened to me, bit of a lip going into my garage. Stopped at the lip one day and it wouldn't reverse over it, had to go forward a bit then reversed ok.
