I has two occurences :

01. When turning the selector to 'R' , it did not engage and the ICE revved up until I turned it to 'D';
02. Turning the car. Changing from 'D' to 'R' several times while turning the car from a dead-end street.
Again: the engine revving not engaging any gear. But now I could turn the selector though all gears and
nothing engaged ! The letters just blinked : blinking N / R / D / S...

Switching off and restarting wasn't a cure. So I put the car to sleep ( some minutes, you hear a 'clunk' in the
rear somewhere from a switch or relay ), while waiting outside the car.

On starting then, all was back to normal. Dealer doesn't have a clue.

I guess the selector controls a servo engine on the autobox. Maybe they need to be synchronised ?
