any ideas on the easy way to hook up an i pod to a 54 plate vogue ,have an fm transmitter at the moment and its pretty poor, seen lots of ideas but need a good diy one ,help

Intravee is pretty much the only way to go, it allows you to scroll through the sounds on the display etc.

However I've just got a Nokia N97 and it has a built in FM sender and at first I was dubious but it is SO much better than the 99p transmitters from eBay. As long as you can find a clear bit of radio freq' it is near CD quality. Turn DSP on and it's up mixing cleans it up superbly. Obviously you can only use the controls on the phone to ffw etc but is better than nowt. 

I was using a cassette adaptor linked to my N95 which meant mp3 through car stereo and also free hands free kit. Just recently invested in a Parrot, streams the music Ok but doesn't half show up the por quality of some mp3 dowloads.

Try turning DSP on as it supposedly processes the sounds to limit clipping and distortion.

Tried that mate, used loads of different EQ combinations but still some tracks are heavily distorted. Guessing that perhaps the Parrot doesn't stream the music fast enough or something along those lines. Will probably end up with and Intravee and keep the Parrot for hands free only but that means buying a separate mp3 player and defeats the whole point of having combined phone/mp3player/sat nav

I think you've answered to problem yourself 'combined phone/mp3player/sat nav'

Putting all that lot into 1 item will reduce the quality avaialable of each individual componenet.
