Blown turbo - 3.6

So joy of Joy’s I’m in Cornwall on holiday and my 3.6 has blown a turbo. 144k miles and rigorously maintained/oil changes every 6k and the OS turbo has thrown the towel in. Does any of the collective on here know of a decent garage around north Cornwall who can replace them both??

Unbelievable really but I managed to find a garage in Red Post (just near Bude) and they got the Rover in on the Tuesday after my frantic phone calls on Monday, and replace both turbos for recon units with 2yr warranty, change oil and filter and test etc. Unreal that they pulled it out the bag in basically 4 days from my phone call!

Garage is called Davcar - the main man there Dave is my Jesus…..

Not bad considering I once got quoted £5.5k for the head gasket on a 3.6. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

What did it end up costing?

5.5k seems very very high

I sent it to salvage auction. The warranty company (as they always seem to) wriggled out of paying even a penny. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

I should add that is for recon turbos with a 2yr warranty - engine dropped out, both replaced, oil change and filter etc.

I thought that was excellent - the car is driving brilliantly. Apparently the mechanic got over 3 litres of oil out of the intercooler…….

A lucky escape I think!

That's a good price for the work involved - personally I'd have replaced the intercooler but if it was drained & flushed properly as it seems to be then it's just a personal choice.
