Second time lucky...

Hi everyone, going to try and keep my L322 ownership experience logged on here, if my previous Land Rover ownership forum posts are anything to go by it will be picture heavy!

Quick back story, owned a few Disco 2s in TD5 and V8 guises, loved them to pieces, bought a 1963 Series 2a a couple of years ago because I got sucked in to Landy life. I still own my first D2 which has been my daily driver on and off for the last 6 years, just been getting a bit long in the tooth and a few too many issues in recent times to keep it going for every day use. I've always loved the L322 so now was the time to treat myself and upgrade! Couple of months back I bought a 2010 3.6 TDV8 which was a problem child, oil leaks, coolant leaks, boost leaks, numerous warning lights and suspension woes. All developed within the first few weeks of ownership so the car was rejected and we moved on...

Collected this today, just under 100k miles, 2 owners, stacks of history 4.4 TDV8 Vogue Very Happy

Was ideally after a Vogue SE or above but the want for green with a light interior was greater than the need for cooled seats...

Drove the car back ~50 miles today and initial reactions are how much faster and more fuel efficient it is than the 3.6. I've done 95% of the spannering (and 0% of the welding Laughing) myself on Land Rovers up to now so will have to see if that continues with the RR. Bargain eBay dog guard has already been fitted, boot liner installed and tomorrow the dogs can go for a jolly in it. Plan is for a tow bar, LED interior light upgrade and then to enjoy it...

That is all for now, hopefully there won't be too much to report for the foreseeable

Thanks folks! Been all over the place in it today, drivers door mirror up/down adjustment seems to be broken but other than that it’s been perfect!

Not the best picture but quick interior photo

Boot liner and dog guard did a good job of keeping the hairy beasts under control!

Well another couple of weeks and about 800 miles in total, still in love!

Done a little bit of light green laneing and I was very impressed with how it dealt with the rough stuff, just went at it slightly more gently than I do in the Disco Laughing

First little mod, number plate lights swapped to LED, a must for me with all the other exterior lights being LED! Got some reverse and puddle light LEDs on order but will leave the interior bulbs halogen for now.

Dogs love it as well, happy to lay down and rest their heads on the ledge below the rear screen.

Been very impressed with the fuel consumption, longer drive on country roads saw 33 mpg on the trip, could only dream of numbers that high from the TD5! Long term average sitting at 25mpg which is about what I expected. Both myself and SWMBO reach for the keys every time we pop out, her car barely turns a wheel when I'm not at work these days! 2011 Vogue 4.4 TDV8

Time for another photo dump!

It's ticked over 100k miles now, average fuel consumption sitting at 28mpg which I am delighted with! It continues to be the perfect car. Only issue, it seems to attract idiots, someone scratched both NS doors in a car park and didn't leave a note, bodyshop attended and had it looking good as new after a few days. Less than a week later someone slammed a car door into my NSF door and took a good chunk out of the fresh paint... Unamused to say the least...

Private plate has been transferred from the Disco...

Done a few more green lanes and it seems to be incredibly capable and reasonably comfortable in the rough stuff... I'm paranoid about pin striping the paintwork which has lead to some interesting lines out and about...

Few LEDs had failed in the high level brake light, phoned Duckworth's up and then proceeded to buy a cheapy replacement from eBay...

Had a bit of a spending spree on eBay, puddle lights...

Posh knobs...

Interior had a reasonably good clean by my standards

Went to Peterborough LRO show with the Disco 2 crowd, RR embarrassed itself Sunday afternoon, battery completely flat... Given that it hadn't been started all weekend, the steps were in and out and interior lights on and off I decided to forgive it on this occasion. Very much enjoyed sitting on the tailgate for cooking, looking forward to the next camping trip with it...

That's all for now! Next on the agenda is a gearbox service, no history of it being done at I would say overdue now at 11 years and 100k miles...

great to see it being used as it should be.

I once picked up a well-known BBC defence corespondent (who was late for a briefing/demo on salisbury Plain) in my FFRR and raced her across the plain to the RV. As we belted along cross-country, she asked "Is this an army issue staff car?" to which I replied, "oh yes, we all get issued them now."

Sadly it didn't make it into the news report Crying or Very sad

Another few months and thankfully nothing drastic to report... First bit of cold weather and found the battery flat again... I use the car every day so it was treated to a new battery and it's been good as gold since! Managed to do some more greenlaning, I knew it would be good but it makes life so easy off road! A few lanes in the North York Moors and a couple in the Dales

Also found some snow in the Dales while we were up there

Other than that it's been charging about the country rescuing other Land Rovers

And providing an excellent brew making/drinking platform with the dog...

Booked in next week for a service, done about 7,000 miles since the last one and will get the gearbox serviced at the same time... Hopefully they won't find anything else!

Looking good, Tom.

I wasn't sure that a lught coloured interior was a good idea with the two pooches but it seems to be holding up well.

Dunc. The life you have is the only one you'll get; make the most of it.
