Hi,

Does anyone have a workshop set up that could possibly grip 2 snapped, possibly seized (head snapped off) M4 x 40mm screws that are stuck in this type spring clip?

Have a non LR car that has a grille I had to remove for maintenance work. The grille is held on by 3 of these spring clips. 2 of the clips I had to drill the heads off because the pozi drive heads had gotten chewed over time. Now I can’t get the remnants of the screw out of the 2 spring clips.

Any advice welcome.

Are the bolts sticking out the back of the clips to any extent?

Do you have a decent bench vice ?
Rig it up as a press, put a larger nut behind the bracket and push out the remaining screw with a centre punch.

Get a Dremel with grinding stone onto the corner welds.

Thanks very much to dhallworth who very kindly extracted the screw remnants in jig time… well, if he can do what he’s done with a SC, this was never really going to challenge him (as it did moi) 😂👍
