United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Autobiography TDV8 Baltic Blue

The sparkle in that paint is stunning!

I know what you mean about stick or twist! I love new car day but getting a car into a condition that you're happy to have it in is a nightmare!

I bought my XFR 4 years old from a main dealer and still ended up doing a load to make it right. L405's have been intriguing me for a while now too but after the most recent round of spending on my L322 and given that it's basically brand new from front to back now it's going nowhere.

Yes you could change Ryan, but as we are probably at the peak of the 405 market then you will be paying top monies. Keep the tdv6, buy a toy with the cost to change. Yours has been trouble free, is looking tidy, is still under warranty, the only way to improve would be to get an SDv8 or 5.0 neither of which I would be paying a load of money to move across to just for the sake of it.

I keep looking at the available stock thinking I could but what would I get……I like mine, would prefer a light interior, and a better exterior colour but given mine is rarely driven now, I can’t justify buying one. I’ve had it 2 years and done 6000miles a year in it….. the D4 has done double that and the “new” Kia is approaching 7000 miles in 3 months.

So that will be a good argument for a replacement for the D4 🤔🙄😬 possibly a deafener hard top at some point in the next 12-18 months. If only they did it in red……. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

👍

No qualms about keeping the current L405 (would find it hard to “let it go” tbh)… that cost to change is just going to keep going up and up the longer we hold on…

Ps. Been looking at 3.0 diesel, 4.4 diesel and the 5.0 SC… and inclination is to go for a 3.0 diesel again (if changing) because this one has been so good all round.

I do like the newer front end, somehow neater. But short of a run out model for 90,000+ there isn’t going to be much in it. I don’t buy the fact the cost to change will keep increasing. Once the new model hits the road the 405s will be harder to shift, give it 18 months and the last of the 405s will start to drop. That’s my theory…..🤷‍♂️

You probably won’t find a better one than what you have……all that will be different is the mileage number on the screen, an if that upsets you then just press the stalk so it disappears!

Have had the D4 on a trip for ages, last time I checked it was on 110,000 ish now it’s on 125000. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Well, still have the car and all still good.

Glad of the ongoing LR warranty investment. Put the car into the main dealer for warranty work on the front passenger door locking mechanism the other week (it had an intermittent issue whereby the front seat passenger couldn’t always open the door from inside). Anyway, the obligatory/ routine accompanying MD health check found a sump gasket leak, a leak from the level sensor and a leak from the throttle seals. There had been no signs of these leaks at all.

That resulted in £1800 worth of work being completed at the LR main dealer - had a brake fluid change done; front passenger door lock mechanism replaced (LR warranty); throttle seals replaced (LR warranty); sump gasket seal and oil level sensor/ associated parts renewed (LR warranty) Shocked

So, the LR warranty - £158/ month without breakdown cover (interest free over 10 months or a lump sum of £1580). If you sell the car you can stop paying it monthly so to me, monthly is a no brainer. It’s a lot of money every month in one respect but even if we kept the car another 12 months, the warranty which I only renewed the week the car went to the MD has paid for itself this year (didn’t use the warranty last year though).

Also, had a look on AT this morning. There are only about fourteen 3.0 TDv6 L405 advertised of similar age and mileage with the electrically deployable towbar which ours has. Advertised prices ranging between £26,500 and £34,950 (private and trade) and mileages range from 50k to 100k…
