Screen blank Now sorted.

I have a 2004 Td6 in which over the years l have replaced the dsp, Mk 4 satnav, digital tv module and upgraded Bm54.
Everything has worked fine for years.
=
Unfortunately a couple of weeks ago l lost the display on the screen although everything else still works.

The screen backlight still works but no display including the LR Oval logo on unlocking the car.

No sign of water damage anywhere, all plugs are clean and undamaged, no wiring damage.
Have tried the usual resets.

Would this be something anyone has come across in the past by any chance and if so could you point me in the right direction as to a cure.

My suspicion is that it is a firmware issue in the satnav unit and although l do have the dvd disc for it and have tried reinstalling to no avail.

To be honest l don’t wish to spend a lost of money to resolve the issue given the age of the car and if it can’t be resolved easily might just put up with it as long as l still have music.

Any pointers would be much appreciated,

Thanks

did you keep your old CD MK3 satnav unit, if you did - take out the MKIV and replace with MK3, just to narrow it down to the never DVD MKIV player

NB I should add, make sure the red light on the Satnav goes out before you remove it !

Thanks gents, working on it.

Will have a go again tomorrow.

Now sorted Very Happy

Turns out the reverse camera relay which is switched by the reverse lights had failed in the closed position thereby putting the reverse camera on all the time. Unfortunately because of this or coincidently the reverse camera has ceased to function causing a blank screen.
When the relay / camera failed l have no idea but the car has been sitting inactive for a couple of weeks after having been reversed into position.
The blank screen l was viewing was in fact the camera screen and nothing to do with any of the modules thankfully.
Replaced the relay and the screen is now displaying normally albeit when l select reverse the screen switches to blank due to the faulty camera.
Just need a new reverse camera to get back to normal.

I would just like to record my appreciation of the helpful advice given to me by forum member Baris in resolving this issue without whose advice l think l would still be looking for the cause. Thumbs Up
