Centre console cup holder cover

I’ve just bought a, (new to me) 405.
Everything seems to operate as it should, apart from the sliding thing that covers the cup holders in the centre console
It won’t stop open, (like the one in my 322)
It just springs back, rather urgently !!
Am I missing something?
Or is something broke?
Cheers

It sounds like its broken, it should slide forward with minimum effort and stay in place.

Anyone know where I can obtain a centre console?

It should slide to its limit and then latch in place. You then give it another push to unlatch, and it'll slide close. cant be worth getting a whole centre console for what is likely just a small latch thats needed.

What age is your L405 ?

The cup holder and slide mechanics appear to be one part which attached to the underside of the finishing trim of the drawer and the console. Not sure if the following link will work, but it should take you to the land rover page which shows the part numbers.

https://store.landrover.com/parts/index/pa...and-rover/

If you look at part <13562A> it shows the cup holder / slider. On the left when you expand that out, you get the list of superceded part numbers for it. For earlier VINs, the part numbers go:

LR037386 > LR048942 > LR069581 > LR084039

and for later VINs: ( JA000001 onwards )

LR110354 > LR116501

so you could trawl about for them perhaps ? V8 or else ...

Hi, I have a 2013 model with exactly the same issue. The slider does not stay open.

Do you know what part is needed to fix this?

Thanks

I suffered with a spilled sticky drink last year which resulted in me needing to take the cup holder cover and various other bits of the centre console apart. It was a medium-tricky task to do this but I did get it all back together.

It may be that the coiled springs which provide the force to retract the lid have somehow become jammed. Might be worth a go at a tear down if the parts (as I’d suspect) prove to be expensive to replace. 2016 SDV8 AB

Sorry just re-read and seen that you’ve got the opposite problem, ie the springs work but the lock doesn’t.

I followed a post by Fleagle https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/post607046.html#607046 which gave some helpful photos of the relevant section once apart.

Good luck with the fix. 2016 SDV8 AB
