Well I had a Mk5 2.3 Ghia, white with a brown vinyl roof.... was a total piece of and the wipers were awful... part exchanged it for a 2.0 Ghis white Sierra which was much better and the wipers worked....!! Pete

Not at all, charging light came on one day, found the fan belt lying over the fan, went to reinstall it to find the crankshaft had snapped and the end had fallen off complete with the pully....  Pete

re the vipa wipers..

i wonder if its the curvature of the L405 windscreen thats the problem.

the L332 and discos have more flatter screens [?] and would suit the vipa wipers better.. ... - .- -.

I got my Bosch ones and fitted them - they seem OK so if nobody wants them I'll just bin the Vipa blades. You might be right Stan mine is a 405. Geoff
