L405 Deployable steps

Retrofitting steps to a 2017 FF
I was looking on Youtube at how to fit Deployable steps, I watched a guy called Raymies garage,
He fitted a set from Pegasus to a 2015 Autobiography which looked ok they did not have the Land Rover stamp on them but are about half price compared to the JLR set.
I had fitted 3 L322 cars with deployable steps so thought I had a good idea on fitting.
I ordered them from our friendly Duckworths.7 boxes were a bit of a shock, I checked through the boxes for an installation Manuel and was directed to a JLR online installation site.

http://accessories-instructions.landrover.com/enUSA/range-rover

After looking through the fitting instruction it was like the Pegasus, except the electrics for a 2017 Autobiography are not the same. There are also some other protection pieces that you get with the JLR set.

I downloaded the two manuals and it states that they need coding for the car so sent an email to Pat at Gap and asked if my IID tool would do it, the reply was it's a new one for him

I started fitting the electric loom and module which is easy to follow as the instructions are self-explanatory.
Then started stripping down the external stuff which is not as easy mainly because of rusty nuts and threads, I could not believe how much dirt is behind the inner wheel arch cover which makes getting these nuts undone frustrating.

Pat From gap has given up on it after trying a couple of updates so its off to JLR to have it programmed Big Cry

Hi ya,

In the same boat on my 2019, have all JLR parts and had to change an ECU because of deployable tow bar. Need steps coading now. Did JLR give you a cost for codeing?

Hi SV No I have gone with an Indie at the moment as getting into JLR is next month I will let you know the cost from the Indie.

I am still in contact with Pat at Gap and he is working with the guy at JLR who has the same problem of not being able to programme the system.

Pat sent me the information that tells the car the steps are there but it would not work.

I will keep you updated.
