WiFi connection to house

Quick question to see if others have this issue.

When pulling up at home if I want to connect to my home network the car will ask for the WiFi password every time to connect up. It never retains it. (This is the same with my work WiFi) There is no problem with strength of signal or staying connected once hook up.
I would have thought it would work like a mobile phone, once set up and you come come back home you phone automatically sync to you home WiFi? This would make it easier to download load updates ?
