Thats the right technique, start slowly an increase speed slowly all the way across. Some of the vehicles going through rufford was shear crass stupidity both in depth of water and technique used.

After Thursdays rain the water depth was around 3 feet !!
And still the Lemmings kept throwing themselves in !!
Think the Ford is now the area’s top tourist attraction !!

The FFRR will pass through most water if done correctly. Slow entry and good wave are essential

We once had Land Rover Germany use our camp and its tank training area as a 'demo' area for its last P38 model. we agreed that we would provide afternoon tea etc at the officers' mess for their guests as long as we could drive the cars. Part of the course was a tank ditch filled with water which we all successfully navigated, despite the resting water being at bonnet level and when driven through, went over the roof. we were given a bolloc king by the LR guy on the first run, for driving too fast. He then proceeded to go too slow, stalled and get stuck in said ditch, while we took great delight in hammering past and swamping him further. what a hoot but it made me determined to own a FFRR one day (now on my 4th!)

Had a BMW 520D air intake was below the bumper! Drowned it in 4 inches of water….tyres weren’t even covered. Fortunately didn’t try to restart and a drainage exercise saved the engine. 2012 tdv8 Westminster arrived Jan 19 gone Dec 23

Good point, but as you say fan speed is closely related to temperature rather than engine speed, so my initial point is still valid.

Also, a viscous coupling isn't direct drive.

On balance I think I would've driven around.

For the sake of 10 minutes....you have to wonder how some of these people get through a day, not just the ones driving in and getting stuck, but the morons blasting past them in old Defenders. On the upside I guess it is removing some old Vauxhalls from the road...

Amazed by the sheer number of youtubers there now too. Have wondered the exact same Stan, garages local to there must be pretty good draining water now. Or maybe there's a large field of knackered vehicles. Often wonder how the conversation goes with the work vehicles "erm boss, the vans fooked cause I drove through a puddle". Used to be loads of merc sprinters spluttering to a halt there. Weirdly satisfying though.
