Deployable towbar install

Hi all, thanks for having me Smile

Just getting back into a 405 (had a 322 a while back) and looking to fit a deployable towbar myself..

I’m pretty ok with the spanners but the electrics is a different manner so looking for some advice

I saw when buying that some cars had detailed in the options ‘towbar preparation’ was this standard on all? and just some adverts stating it?

I’m looking at getting a secondhand deployable towbar from ebay but i’m trying to get an idea of everything i might need to do the job, i see some new ‘detachable’ towbar retailers are stating a vehicle specific electrics pack so maybe this is what i need?

I was ‘hoping’ that i could buy a secondhand deployable towbar that included everything that i needed so it was just ‘plug and play’ but i suspect that is dreamland 🙂

Anyway, thanks for any input, i’ll try and do an install guide to help out if there isnt one available already…

Welcome to FullFatRR Thumbs Up

The deployable has 2 sets of electrics - one for deploying/stowing and the other being the regular tow electrics for the 13 pin socket.

This thread should help - https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic57054.html

Hi, it is plug and play yes, and easy enough, it’s a two man job to lift on but haddock lugs to help.
You will need a new bolt set and bumper cut out and the frame, new if not with the tow bar.

I fitted a a Westfalia system (manual) with a removable ball. My vehicle had all the threaded bolt holes in the correct place. So it’s possible they are all like that. 2013 SDV8 4.4 SE Luxor.
