United Kingdom 2015 Range Rover Vogue SE SDV8 Causeway Grey
2015 L405 Vogue SE Sim Card reader location

Hi, Looking for some pointers please, searched the site but nothing tells me what i need to know,

So I have the SOS button & Spanner button in the Overhead console, on the in control app on my phone i have the car registerd but it thinks its in the north east where it came from 18 months ago and the weather is the same as when it left the previous owner / last time it worked, however i can not find the sim card location / reader, i have looked under the drivers side dash area but nothing, it doesnt have the reader in the center console either like my disco 5 , I am assuming because its reported a loctaion and info , plus i paired it to my phone in control app it has telematics, so can some one with 2015 405 point me to the place wher it should be please.

TIA

You have probably tried this but you never know ?

1) Open drivers door
2) Assume the position (you will need to be on hands and knees for this)
3) Find the top of the brake pedal (where it goes up into the facia)
4) Look to the left (towards the side of the car) - there it is tiny little panel

You can also locate the OBDII port which is more on the facia and go back from it. Last night I lay in bed looking up at the stars in the sky and I thought to myself, where,s the f**king ceiling!!

It should be next to the USB port under the drivers side facia panel - pretty much as above from memory.

ETA - that's if you have the 'in control' functions, there was also one in the spare wheel well on the earlier versions I think

Thanks, yes I have looked there and nothing... Hence my post... You would think that the hand book would say but it's like the book had been printed in 2011 before they launched the car, then doing final roll outs all the way to 2017 when they ditched the disco 4 meridian system.. SDV8 2015

So I have obtained the build sheet, not the simplest thing to understand, however it is not equipped with a SIM card reader, as it states,
telematics ROW
Online pack less online pack
Incontrol apss less incontrol apss
So from that it has telematics for sos and secure tracker but nothing else, hence why it shows on the phone app being in the North East, assumably when the tracker subscription was cancelled.
My understanding was it requires a sim card for the tracker to be able to communicate to the car / factory server, but stands to reason it would be easy to remove the card during the theft and thus evade detection.

So the reason I can't find the reader is because it's not ever been fitted.

Can it be retrofitted? I assume not as I believe I have read that if a car is not built with the option it can not be retrofitted...

Anyway thanks for everyone's input....

The incontrol secure uses its own inbuilt Sim which is integral to the Telematics unit.
If you want the incontrol tracker to function you just need to pay up for the subscription. I seem to recall that even if the subscription is not renewed the SOS functionality in case of an accident will still work for 10 years from date of vehicle manufacture.

Hope this helps! L405 SV Autobiography LWB SDV8, finished in Aston Martin China Grey by ETO division.
