SV Build - NGPTSQ (Low)

I've received the good news today that my second L460 (a P530 SV) to follow my current First Edition has been slotted Cool. Hopefully I should have the new car in April and shouldn't have lost much on my First Edition.

On the spec, the above acronym was stated as an 'option' and I wondered if anybody else has come across this on their build sheet or whether it's SV specific? From googling, it stands for 'Next Generation Power Train Sound Quality' which is basically a fake engine sound being transmitted through the speakers. I didn't know JLR were now doing this but BMW have been up to it for years so didn't know if it was linked to the BMW-sourced engine?

That is correct, Next Generation Power Train Sound Quality (NGPTSQ)

Symposer technology has been on the L322 & L405 and F Type 5.0 Supercharged for a few years now

Well there we go, I never knew this! Is it also present on PHEV and Diesel engines?

Not as far as I am aware 5.0 Supercharged and new 4.4 Twin Turbo only.

Range Rover has the (Low) system and Jaguar F Type & SVR has (High) system, for obvious reasons you wouldn't want your SV sounding like an F Type SVR inside

Evening 5.0, you are correct it is a picture from Autotrader, its far to cold to go out and take a picture but I will if you need me too. And yes it does make a subtle difference in terms of noise Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Lol! This takes me back!

I had this equipment, or something very similar, on my 2003 BMW Z4!
M52 straight six 2.5L what a lovely engine, so very smooooooth, and passed the “wine glass” test on idle.
Folks argued on Z4FORUM as to whether to remove certain bits of foam or not, to alter the sound………

Now I’m an old fart and prefer silence and my fillings are loose, I’d give it a miss………. Laughing “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

Yes please Dr F. Pics are always welcome, especially of SVs as they are thin on the ground!

Back in the day I would spend money and endless hours trying to stop the outside noise coming in. Laughing
