While doing my oil change on old (20 years) 2.5-ton trolley jack wasn't up to the task.

What trolley jacks do people recommend for working on the L405?

Tons? Lifting height?

I have a 2.5 ton low profile floor jack with a lifting height of 20”. I also have four composite 7” ramps rated at 6.5 ton each that I use when going under. With the wheels on and in the high suspension setting, it is comfy and safe under there. Always use a jack stand wheel taking off a wheel. YRMV.

I have the Clarke 3T rated high lift one everyone seems to go for.

For oil changes I use sleepers cut into 3ft length with a slope to drive onto them rather than jack up. The end result is like the photo above except I made them with my chainsaw and I trust wood more than a composite plastic if I am under a 3T car. Discovery 4 HSE

You do know you can vacuum the old oil out without grovelling on the floor...  Pete

Thanks for the replies. So it just seems my old jack is dead. I will see what 2.5/3T one I can find locally.

My old stands I lent to a friend, who needed to keep them in the end, so gave me a good bottle of whisky for them. I will need a new set. What height axle stands are needed to change wheels? SDV8 AB MY 2020
