Odd key fob behaviour

Hi,

If anyone has seen this and got a fix I’d appreciate it.

One of my fobs will not work with keyless entry, but it will work on all the buttons to unlock etc. however it won’t start the car, car says to put the key near the steering column, but still doesn’t detect it.

I can get it to work if I press the unlock button and then try to start the car. It’s as if the key stops talking to the car unless it’s manually activated by pressing a button, but then stops soon after.

Car is under warranty but wanted to see if anyone else has this. I’ve also tried new batteries in the fob and get the same result.

Thanks Discovery 4 HSE

As an update.

The dodgy fob has drained 2 new batteries. It is booked in next week for the dealer to look into it. Discovery 4 HSE

Just had a similar issue. Fault was diagnosed to a loose connection at the antenna located in the roof of the cabin. Headliner had to be dropped to get at it. Took dealer 3 days to find fault and repair. Completed under warranty.

Was your issue with both keys though? This only happens with one of them to mine Discovery 4 HSE

Issue started off with one key then quickly moved to both. Dealers first attempt was to reprogram the keys and that worked for about 20 mins. It was only first start up in the morning that neither key would be recognised by the car at all and had to be held against the steering column to start. Restarts after that in the same day mostly worked ok if the car had ran for 10-15 mins or more, then next morning back to holding it against the column. At no time during this behaviour though did the keyless lock/unlock ever work.
