Hi all, just wondering if I could get some guidance or if anyone has had similar issues before.

I recently picked up a non bluetooth gap iid tool for my 2002 L322.
When I plug it in to the OBD port the blue flashing light on the iid tool comes on - but I am not received any messages on the dash about the tool being ready (which I need to get an activation code to even set up the tool!).
I have contacted gap about it, and they said the issue is with my OBD port. However I have taken my car to various garages in the past for suspension calibration etc and there have not been any issues with the port then.

Any advice on first steps would be greatly appreciated!

you have spoken to the experts and have theirs views on the problem...

you could try some other device in the obd port and see if that works.. ... - .- -.

I have had this problem previously it is caused by the IID tool having thinner pins than most other readers. They are in spec but at the thinnest end of the specifications.

If you are lucky then you can, very carefully, bend the pin sockets in the OBD port on your car. To do this remove the side trim next to the port, you can then release the port from its holder.

Another way (and less risky) is to use an extension cable. This worked for me for quite a while.

I know of at least 5 other diagnostic readers that worked on my car, just not my IID tool.

I would not mess with the OBD pins for fear of breaking the socket, … much safer to buy a cheap OBD extension lead off eBay and plug the iid into that.

Have just bought an icarsoft tool - that worked in resetting air suspension fault.
But still having bother trying to get the IID tool to work, as the suspension really needs calibrating.

I also bought an OBD extension lead, and have had a go at bending the pins - with no luck so far. Very frustrating, tempted to even sell the IID tool and stick with this icarsoft one, and just get it calibrated at the dealer. We'll see.
