So having been without a FFRR for 12 months and just last month selling my 21 plate Defender I found myself without a LR product on the drive!

As such I just had to have something and it was do I buy a pre-reg/owned car at £25k over list or do I place an order for a new one and wait.

I figured on a 12 month wait but we will see and decided to place an order for a D350 Autobiography and save myself £25k (I can now buy something else for 12 months to play with such as a D4 or similer lol) so off I toddled to my friendly dealer and the order was placed and the deposit paid.

Car spec is as follows;

I sat in a couple whilst there and although lots of folk don't like the steering wheel, I actually do like it.

Lots of time to change my mind over the spec or colour as I liked the Carpathian one in the showroom but have concernes its too close to black and other than when just washed will look dirty all the time

Now the long wait begins  "UNDERSTEER" ----is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"OVERSTEER" ------is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"HORSEPOWER" ----is how fast you hit the fence.
"TORQUE" -----------is how far you take the fence with you.

Congratulations, I hope the wait isn't too long for you.

I sat in a new FF at the dealers last week and I thought I'd hate everything about the new steering wheel; the rim, when all black, wasn't anywhere near as bad as I thought and I could live with it easily, not so sure on the rather American two spoke design though. It may grow on me by the time they come into my price range, plenty of time for that.

I also went Lantau Bronze and didn’t regret my choice, really pleased with it and it wasn’t grey or black just a little different from everyone else. Mine had the black pack,roof and wheels but many don’t like that but the contrast really worked.
I sold mine not long after delivery and bought a cheap RR Sport with the proceeds to fill in the time whilst my newly ordered Sport gets built. These have a much better looking steering wheel too.  Current fleet:

Put my expression of interest deposit down in Sep 21, ordered car first day of release in October or November 21 (cant even remember now), still waiting in January 23...... sure it will be worth it....

We had 2 Pyrenees trips planned that got cancelled due to Covid and even the possible trip in Sept this year has been cancelled, did a few off road trips but not many again down to Covid and just thought I would go more road bias and w return to the FFRR.

intersting. I had an afternoon in one and was underwhelmed by the 4 pot engine, the plasticky inside and lack of rear space. Most of all, it was nearly £70k for my spec! I'd rather have an FFrr any day, as I have never come across anything that it couldn't cope with, including 4ft of standing water, 25% incline (upwards) and rough going.

Hope, like UKRR, you sold it for more than you paid.

So you tried one of the early one's and a 2ltr 90 - mine was a 110 and a 3ltr petrol with 400bhp so a different kettle of fish altogether.

Inside it was very comfortable with superb seats and whilst it did have some plastic around the dash it was a Defender and supposedly a work horse so not meant to be a FFRR!

Loads of room in the middle row and boot and drove/handles very well.

The dash and screens are as good as the old FFRR but may not be quite up to the L406 but certainly have the same functionality so sorry if your experience was not a good one - maybe you should try one now and a 110 as opposed to a 90  "UNDERSTEER" ----is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.

It’s interesting, I previously had a L405, now have a D300 Defender X and my new L460 comes soon with the Defender going when it arrives.

I ticked pretty much ever option on the already well specced X too, to keep it as per my L405.

I have a somewhat conservative view of the Defender. It’s a brilliant car, people seem to love them, I don’t. Ive only had minor issues (although it’s proficient at interior rattles), looks great, drives great but it’s not the car for me.

I shall refrain from detailed descriptions.

Just a little update, the dealer told me when I wend down for an evening with them earlier this week that my car is now due on the 5th May so just over a month away now and supposedly no bits missing  "UNDERSTEER" ----is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.

Haylands, that's this year but forgot to say that I had a call about 3 weeks ago from the dealership asking me about colour as when I placed the order I did consider Carpathian.

When I got the call I was asking why they were trying to firm up my order when it was at least 12 months away to be told it was still the case but they were just checking the colour.

I then asked about any cancelled orders and had a discussion with the DP, who I know well and am a good customer having bought an FF Supercharged SVA, FF AB 4.4 TDV8 and a new Defender from them since Oct 2019, who said they had one that had just been cancelled, was available, was spec amendable and due in May - did I want it

I jumped at the offer and its now been brought forward by 10 days

I still have my original order in but have changed it for an AB P530 as and when available to order  "UNDERSTEER" ----is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
