3 weeks in and first issue

Dropping kids at school my wife suddenly had the power steering turn off making the car obviously almost impossible to turn for her. Apparently happened after engine did an auto stop start at a set if lights. When she moved off power steering had gone.

She Stopped - did the magic turn it off then on and again trick and it fixed itself.

Only other most likely unrelated thing is that we used the pre heat function for the first time today from the remote app.

I’ve noticed a couple of times when turning at slow speed that the steering suddenly went heavy(ish) for just a moment and then picked up again.

Pump on its way out? Electrical issue/low battery voltage?

EDIT - a forum search shows a few others its happened to - two had the battery terminals cleaned/battery replaced as it was showing low voltage - one had the rack replaced.

As an update - LR assist turned up pretty promptly and basically said “it happens” and cleaned up all the contacts and terminals etc. So we’ll see if it happens again. 2016MY Carpathian 4.4SDV8 Autobiography (Stolen) 😡

same happened to me a few times , only when stop/start kicked in
pulled away from lights and no steering
lr assist cleaned the contacts & battery terminals
no idea if this has cured it as I have turned off the stop/start since
Due to the fact it has not happened again since turning the stop/start off I suspect that is where the problem lies

Did you have any fault codes show up ? Last night I lay in bed looking up at the stars in the sky and I thought to myself, where,s the f**king ceiling!!

I wasn’t home when they came and they didn’t mention it to my wife. Nothing on dash - and I don’t own a IIid tool to check.

I have a late 2016 Autobiog, diesel, same issue, always preceeded by engine Auto Start/Stop activating at traffic lights for example. Any Ideas anyone? Cannot be solved by cleaning battery terminals ??? surely not?!?!?! Mike L405 SV Autobiography 2016

I always think it’s a good idea to check battery health when spurious faults like this appear.
FFRR’s are notoriously heavy on batteries, so it’s worth buying a cheap battery tester to determine the % of battery health remaining. Obviously, SOC will take a dip immediately after engine cranking.

Search “Battery” on here for a few days’ light reading…….  “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

Usually, issues associated after a stop/start event are a software/electrical issue.

May be worth having a diag session and updating as req

If it were a battery issue, I'd expect the S/S system to not work...

Battery can be weak and not hold its SOC and/or take longer to recover, IME this caused multiple faults, including what appeared to be software faults, for example nav software updates failed repeatedly.
