Range Rover Vogue L405 SDV8 vs D350

Hi, my Range Rover is due for a change. I have had a couple of Sdv8s now but from about 2020 onwards they switched to the v6 D300 and D350 models. I am torn between getting a 21 plate D350 or trying to get a late SDV8 circa 2019. Has anyone gone from a Sdv8 to a D350 L405 and how is the comparison in terms of performance and sound?

I came up behind a D350 last week on a dual carriageway that has quite a few roundabouts with 2 lanes. Let’s put it this way, the SDV8 had the edge in acceleration. There wasn’t a lot in it but there was a noticeable difference. 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

I would definitely get the newer car. You could probably count in seconds the amount of time on an average one hour trip the V8 is functionally better for you. I got the 2.0 PHEV instead of a 5.0 which was roughly the same price, I am perfectly happy. Just moving with the times! L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso

Do these D300/D350 engines suffer a similar frequency of crank failures as the SDV6?

I'm looking move into a 2021MY but want v8 for as long as I can before they become extinct First time FFRR owner

The D300/D350 is a straight six so doesn't have the fragile crank of a V6.

I'm starting to consider what my next vehicle will be and at this stage looking not to have the Ford 4.4 SDV8 because it has low oil pressure by design and doesn't have tabbed bearing shells, although perhaps the D300/D350 isn't any better in this regard.

SDV8 by a country mile.

Yes, repairs on a V8 can be more difficult, however the Ingenium engines have their fair share of problems!

My sister's Ingenium-powered Velar has been in the garage for 4 months having a full engine rebuild, and has only covered 50,000 miles.

It's all personal preference however. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

the SDV8 currently suits my mileage profile Gary and it is perfectly suited to a FF however the sweet spot for me would be a 2021 registered one and I think they will be hard to come by with the D300/350 coming-out in 2021. I'm hoping for a late registered onto come on the market when I am in a position to buy.

I plan to retire in 4 years so the mileage profile will change to suit a petrol but I want a SDV8 really to tide me over a bit closer to when I retire First time FFRR owner

Is the engine a 2L or 3L? Lots of issues with the 2L.

The D350 in the new Range Rover goes very well with good mpg also, I think it's just as quick as the SDV8. overfinch modified
