It sure is. I've seen a *lot* of people complaining about hikes in premiums across the board, but JLR products have been hit with additional loadings by a lot of insurers in the last 12 months as there's been a few high-profile media reports around keyless entry/start vehicles and JLR have been high on the list of vehicles that are both a) attractive to thieves and b) trivially easy to nick.

A lot of people are unreasonable about it; 'they're all robbing b'stards', 'they're just ripping us off because they can' etc, etc; but they forget that whilst the cost of living has gone up for them, the cost of operating a business has also gone up; insurers, like everyone else, are paying higher energy bills, higher salaries, repair costs of vehicles have risen, and all the rest of it. Insurers still have to make money and premiums are obviously going to rise as a result.

Bloody hell. Think I’m happy with my £272 I think it was. Obviously not as new or as much annual mileage as the OP.

Mine went from about £1000 to £1600 on renewal end of Nov (high risk North London post code). I am with Direct Line and, playing with the job titles (Project Manager is apparently a low risk job, we all manage projects, right?) the system refused to quote when I changed anything so I simply went with the crazy renewal. All other insurers were £2000 plus. Just have to suck it up, they will come down one day. L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso

Mine was stolen last year, leading to a 50k theft claim. The cheapest I could find then was esure at £2.5k. Now it's due for renewal the best price I've found is an untenable £6.5k. I'll continue looking but insurance costs may force a sale.

I had to pay £1150 for mine which I was shocked at.

Its the first time of insuring so I thought it was the normal.

I paid £320 last year to insure my Panamera.

I dont think I would have bought it if I had known how expensive they were. I quoted a few months ago before buying and it was only £5-600.

I’ve run mine through the comparison site I used last time and it’s jumped up a lot, from £550 last May to £1,400! Could be worse, I also looked at a new M5 Competition and that was £2,000…. MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

Same story here - ultra high risk East London. Went from £865 to £1700. Most expensive quote being £10k. If it goes over £2k next year will probably sell - only used once a month or so for longish trips to Wales. L405 4.4 AB Loire Blue

Just had the same as you crasher, up to £712 from £360 last year with the AA. I tried the comparison sites but once you add the extra bits you want and check the excess isn’t sky high they worked out around the same so I just had to suck it up.

I've heard about insurance premiums rocketing so I checked mine the other day. It's only gone up by £50 so I wonder why it's gone up significantly for some and not others? Location maybe? Kev

Interesting analysis from Money Saving Expert today saying it’s supply chain issues driving up parts cost and so claims settlement amounts. Advice is to try and fix early;

Update: by coincidence as I was posting this I got my renewal notification email with an increase of £211 ( ~43% ). Immediately checked on Compare the market and got it back down to £331. I’m awaiting a call back from site sponsor A-Plan tomorrow to see if they can do any better. TDV8 4.4 2012

Got my renewal through the other day, full no claims, no points or convictions pending, £2800 😳, and not even in central London 🙄, thought I read somewhere that insurance companies can’t penalise existing customers, so have to give the same rate as new customers ?, but after a call with the intention to tell them what to do with it, amazingly he managed to find that he can discount it due to ‘being a loyal customer’ hey presto, just over £700 saved, which was better than the comparison sites, still more than £1k more than last year though, oh well ‘joys of motoring’ as my dad used to say 🙄

My cost is in a different league but shows the value of spending some time getting quotes.

Mine was due recently but renewal came through with the 'every little helps' supermarket (not my insureer of choice but significantly cheaper than anyone else) at £435 down from £443 last year. Outskirts of Sussex town, "nice" area, mature years, only downer is a claim within 5 years. Did the comparison sites and found them at £386 via Money Supermarket. Phone them, and they matched it. Two days before renewal revisited the comparison sites out of interest and quelle surprise it's them again now at £361. Phoned again and the biggest surprise was an offer of £350. "Go figure" comes to mind. They really seem to want to keep my business. Chris
