As you guys know “low battery” causes electrical gremlins, I suffered the driver's door refusing to open. etc. The one that still plagues me is the tailgate malfunction:
It opens on the keyfob, tailgate button and interior button, the issue is the lower half will not close, regardless of which button is pressed.
I have to push the lower gate up, to close it then the mechanical/soft close operation takes over, to tighten the gate against the body. The upper gate closes upon pressing any of the buttons,
When fully open, when pressing the close tailgate button, I just get a clicking sound.

I have installed a new bosch battery, a technician did the required coding operations, and no codes on the range.
So despite changing to a new battery and correct coding of the new battery installed.
The lower tailgates continues to misbehave.

Worth getting a good auto electrician to look at it, could be the tailgate control module gone awol, but it could equally be something else as simple as corrosion or a loose connection. No point in trying to guess.
Are the battery connections good and tight?

And don't blame me, I'm a mechanical Gremlin, not an electrical one!  V6 Vogue - “Less is More” - less to go wrong!

Did it fail exactly when the battery was changed ?

Hi it failed before the battery change. Gremlin 500- the connections are tight

I noted (again) Stans reply on page 2 of the above thread - I think I tried that, but not 100% sure, so it's now on my todo list.

Do you have a cheap DTC scanner? example below, but check its OK for your MY and model etc

See what error codes come up, probably in TGCM module or BCM, note them and erase them (clear) and rescan. It may cure the problem, unless you have a permanent DTC (diagnostic trouble code) if so report them here. 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue
