Looking for solution for obscured reverse camera

I'm in the process of mounting Jerry Cans on the rear of my L405. Unfortunatley my reverse camera will be obscured. Whilst I can get a full aftermarket solution including its own screen, just wondering if anyone can suggest a more elegant solution? For example, would it be possible to wire a second camera into the car's system and switch between the two?

Cheers

Could you put the spare fuel on the roof using a rack and roto-pax system instead?

A friend of mine in Lethbridge has done that with all his Land Rovers and Range Rovers.

You are 100% correct, however, I am keen not to put anything on the roof this time round. Creates too much wind noise, increases fuel consumption and doesn't contribute to handling. Furthermore, I want to enjoy my glass roof!

I looked at Rotopax but they are on the small side (good for Quad bikes and chainsaws). The largest unit is 15L. I got a 30L unit from Aliexpress (rotopax inspired design) which is built like a tank!

After a bit of research, a solution might be a rear camera with a display the clips over the top the rear vision mirror. But as you well know, in Canada the challenge is keeping cameras clean in winter.

I hear you. I want to update my camera housing with the sprayer from the later models. I will do it when it warms up.

Can you mount it using a custom hitch mount to keep it low? It wouldn’t flip around if you use a hitch spacer (Princess Auto) that holds the receiver right in the hitch. I have used a similar system for my hitch mounted dirt bike rack. Even a basket rack might do what you want. Dan. 🇨🇦 2013 L405 5.0 SCV8

I'm working with a fabrication shop to build a hitch mount solution. Swing down style. Will post pictures when finished.
