Back in a petrol - LR but not RR

Well, back in a very nice petrol Land Rover, albeit not a RR.

It feels like it’s related to the L405 at least…

The tech’ on it is great and a lot more than was on our L405.

Think we’ll be back in a RR one day for sure, although for now, it’ll do Thumbs Up

Sorry, wasn’t meant to get the guessing going, forgot to name the car… Discovery 5, like it👌

The D5 forum options don’t seem great though 😞 Not a lot of people posting like this forum.

At least my wee battle with the TDv6 bashers is over Laughing

Cheers, there’s a Facebook one that seems quite busy but it’s not as easy to keep track of posts on there compared to a ‘traditional forum’ like this…

@pld118:

If you get lonely, just keep posting here under “Off Topic - Other Cars” and all your mates on here will keep you company, -you might get a few daft answers because most of us know sod all about the D5, a car which I’ve never had, but like very much. I remember one of the instructors at the LR Experience in Skipton telling me it was the best LR offroad bar none. Twisted Evil Whistle

Feel free to pop in for a chat! What engine does it have, by the way? Thumbs Up “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

Well, the Discovery 5 is a brilliant car so far… luxurious, cavernous interior, lots of tech, still finding storage and cubby holes yet and very nice to drive… almost feels like a RR… without the badge!

It’ll do, for now Laughing

Boot is huge and square so very usable. I’d say bigger than the L405 RR but haven’t researched to see which is the biggest. It’s big though and with the rear seats folded completely flat it is very huge.

It’s more modern inside than our L405 and it has a lot more stuff and tech than our L405 Vogue had but we’ll never use half of it. Mrs PLD calls it the 🦇 batmobile. The electric 6th and 7th seats and electric middle row of seats is very clever. Stereo sound system is first class. Like the HUD too. The adaptive cruise control is excellent, but you can get all that type kit in the L405 of course.

Feels similar to drive as the L405 tbh although the D5 is a firmer ride.

The plastics around the lower doors and door sills don’t seem as heavy duty and durable as the L405 and the metal tread plates are rubbish to say it’s a premium LR and meant to be one of the rufty tufty ones at that (the metal tread plates are tinny and will be easy to scratch/ dent, but we’ll make sure nobody catches and scratches them… ok, me and my OCD will Laughing

It’s a very smart car inside and out. Mrs PLD prefers it inside than outside although does think it looks the part. She obviously has that, “but it’s not a RR” gut feeling and has already said we’re getting another RR in the future.

I love it. Really happy with the D5, cracking car. 👍

Well, this car, so far, is very nice to own. Not missing the RR, yet.

But, and it wouldn’t happen in a RR because of the design… a person or persons has stolen, from the rear underside of the car, the very smart and expensive to replace 22” diamond cut alloy (shod with brand new Pirelli tyre) and done a load of damage in the process. Infuriating.
