Spare key lost connection to the car

Hi,

Due to collect a 2018 facelift SDV8 Autobiography next week and the guy I’m buying from is struggling with the spare key…….it appears to have lost its connection to the car.

It’s the original spare key that came with the car (he’s owned it from new), he’s replaced the battery but it still won’t lock/unlock the car etc.

Is there a way to sync the key back to the car or will this have to be done at a dealer/key specialist?

Many thanks

Steve

Leave it in the car with the ignition on for 30mins (and a charger connected!) if it's not been used for a long time or never been used, it will need the rolling codes re-synching.
Unlock the doors with the working key, leave that one well away and turn on the ignition with the one that needs re-synching, you might need to initially hold the key in the 'sweet spot' to get the ignition on.

No worries, we used to have to do it quite often with trade-ins where the second key had rarely if ever been used.
