Radio turns off when car not running

If the car's engine is off, the radio only runs whilst the ignition is on (ie: foot off brake, press start/stop button to enable ignition).

For me it only works for about 10 mins (max) then it'll shutdown, I think with the message "low battery power", though as far as I can tell the battery isn't particularly low.

(My battery isn't particularly strong right now, but it's also not bad and I believe it did this with a fresh battery installed too)

Does anyone know what the threshold is for cutout?

Does anyone know what senses this or if it can be calibrated?

I'd like to 'fix' this so I can run the radio for as long as I want, running the battery down isn't such a worry now I have the second battery fitted.

Googling, it looks like it's a common thing for all Range Rovers (Sport, Evoque etc). How annoying!

Even with the CTEK set to supply mode it turns off, so it must be a timer rather than being voltage related, that's significantly harder to fix Sad

Annoying isn’t it - I couldn’t find a way to resolve it but would be interested if anyone has.

I think I've realised why RR owners have such a bad reputation for being sat there with the engine running, it's so we can listen to the radio Rolling with laughter

Apparently we love music more than the environment, who knew!? Whistle

The radio should stay on with the ignition in position 1. It goes off by design on a timer if the ignition is completely switched off. John

On the last models with no ignition key the radio goes off as soon as the engine is stopped by pressing the start button. There is no position 1 the only option is to press the starter without pressing the brake and having the full ignition on. 2012 tdv8 Westminster arrived Jan 19 gone Dec 23

Not really - better than a flat battery & most RR sound systems can soon take the best out of a good fuly charged battery without the engine running.

Perhaps, but I have two batteries installed and 300watts of solar panel on the roof, so I can keep the stereo running without any issues!

The RR has a battery voltage sensor, so it could easily just shut itself down if/when the battery voltage sags, the usage of an arbritary time limit is pretty annoying IMHO Sad
