Cracked windscreen!

Hi All, spotted a vertical crack originating from the top left of my windscreen edge today. about 2/3 of the way across the screen. There's no real evidence of a stone impact just a very clean crack that is bound to travel down the screen. I'm going to approach my insurance as I think I've got windscreen cover, but before I do, is there anything to watch out for, or any gotchas when replacing the screen? I understand that they are not necessarily that straightforward? It is the electrically heated screen on a 2006 4.2 S/C. All comments appreciated! Thanks!

When it happened to mine, I got it replaced at the dealership just for peace of mind.

Thanks! Did your insurance cover you for that by any chance as I suspect it was silly money? FFRR 4.2SC/KTM 990SMT Current and cherished.

It was about £1100 a couple of years ago as I recall and was covered by my insurance.

Just bear in mind that a claim for a windscreen still counts as a claim when it comes to renewal. Many fall foul of this in the belief that their no-claims is ok as there hasn't been an accident. The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom Smile

ANY claim, no fault or otherwise will be taken into account when underwriters asses the risk you pose to them.
Just because a claim does not effect the NCB does not mean the premium has not been taken into account.

Thanks for this Glibs! Sorry I’ve only just come back to this thread. I’m still waiting for LR to supply a screen as they are on “back order” anyone had to wait before, and have an idea how long they take? My insurance is covering it and it’s with Autoglas for fitting.

Cheers All! FFRR 4.2SC/KTM 990SMT Current and cherished.
