ok so thought i would try the aux heater as its getting colder in the mornings
set the timer for 6 am checked the car at 6.20 nothing
tried key in position on touch manual on the screen button goes green then orange
can hear a fan or motor running under the battery but cuts out after a min or so
what could be the issue where to start diagnostics

Best way to start is to run diagnostics for the heater, Webasto service or someone with a proper tool. Might be a fuel pump, glow plug, bad circuitboard or something else, only guessing until diagnostics. -07 Stornoway Gray TDV8

Sure I’ve read on here before it’ll only come on when it’s actually cold enough. Vaguely remember a figure of 5c or lower.

There’s loads on here about them; most often it’s insufficient battery voltage level that causes the Aux heater to stop. A simple check is to fully charge the main battery and then use the manual touch screen method to start the Aux heater. You should hear the fuel pump ticking under the rear seats and the main cabin fans start up. Even then I think the ambient temperature has to be low enough for it to fire up. TDV8 4.4 2012
