Just had a reply from the garage that passed my mot with an advisory on rear brake pipes corroding following my request for a quote to replace them.

They said " we're very busy at the moment but don't worry 'cos we're sure they will be ok untill your next mot and we will have a look then" ????

Really, the mind boggles at the incompetence of these people, booked it in elsewhere. RR owner

Rear brake pipes done at Henshall Engineering, Chelford, Cheshire+oil and filter change.

I found on both my L322's that when the steel brake pipes were seen to be corroded where they connect to the rear flexi's, i.e the visible bits in the rear wheel arch that a MOT tester sees, they were in fact very bad at each and every pipe clip within the hidden part behind the cill panels, along the length of the nearside cill.

I was quite shocked TBH, it would seem that the pipe clips hold moisture against the pipe itself, causing local corrosion. Nothing to do with mud / salt as far as I could tell, as it was pretty clean in there on both cars. It seems to be just the way the clip connects / interfaces with the painted steel pipes from the factory.

I'd say that every just about every L322 should by now have had both the front to rear and cross axle steel brake pipes replaced - seeing as the *EDIT* youngest *EDIT * L322 is now 11 years old!
