Tinny vibration at 1900 rpm - 2020 L405

I note there are references to this issue in past posts but now experiencing this issue myself I wondered if anybody ever identified what was vibrating at this point in the rev range. It sounds like it's coming from under the car at the rear of the cabin and is quite a 'tinny' sound and only at around 1900rpm. -----------------------------------------------

As Stan says it's usually a metal heatshield mounting bracket underneath the gearbox that gives a tinny rattle.

My 2016 car has a 'resonance' at 1030-1500 ish rpm with a sound that is like someone blowing across a bottle top.

I checked underneath and my car doesn't have the metal bracket on the gearbox or the heatshield attached to it.

Instead it has a huge metal bash plate covering it all.

I'd imagine a 2020 model is the same and just has the big bash plate.

A 2016 model may well be different but my 2013 car also has a bash plate under the gearbox. The heatshield and its mounting bracket is above that. I had to remove the plate when I investigated/fixed the fractured gearbox heatshield so I wouldn't rule out your car having one.

I had a virbration with the gearbox heatshield (above the bash plate). Nothing was visibly bent so I used some self-adhesive velcro (the fluffy bit) to line the underside of the bracket and isolate the metal to metal interface between the bracket and heatsheild. It is now silent. Kev

Kev, I did exactly the same with mine but unfortunately it didn't cure the noise/vibration. I removed the heatshield again, cleaned it up and discovered a crack round one of the bolt holes. So a new heat shield required.

Update

It was a faulty silencer, the insides were vibrating. Replaced under warranty. -----------------------------------------------
